GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides leadership and mentoring role to medical assistant staff
- Participates in orientation of new permanent and temporary clinical staff members (e.g. medical assistants, LPN, RN)
- Performs teaching of other clinical support staff for whom she/he is responsible
- Communicates the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other team members
- Participates in the plan of nursing care as developed by, and under the supervision of, a registered nurse or nurse practitioner
- Performs nursing procedures as outlined in the Nursing Procedure Manual
- Assists the registered nurse or nurse practitioner to evaluate outcomes of nursing care for patients and to modify the plan of care as appropriate
- Participates in and contributes to performance improvement activities
- Provides nursing care appropriate to age group of patients consistent with the practice scope of service
- Works with the registered nurse or nurse practitioner to define standards of excellence for patient care
- Observes, reports and documents pertinent patient information, in accordance with the standards of documentation for ambulatory care nursing
- Participates in the patient intake process with medical assistants
- Assists with the patient intake process
- Instructs/assists patient to prepare for examination by MD including setting up special equipment as needed
- Notifies provider when patient is ready and communicates pertinent information obtained during the intake process
- Assists patient through check-out process when exam is complete
- Provides and maintains a therapeutic environment for patients and families
- Participates in relevant continuing education programs
- Adheres to regulatory requirements for annual training
- Faxes, mails or telephones in prescription renewals as directed by providers and practices Medication Auto Renewal policy
- Assists provider in coordinating care with/making referrals to specialist, testing, etc.
- Collaborates with other professional and non-professional personnel in maintaining recognized standards
- Participates in orientation of new permanent and temporary clinical staff members (e.g. medical assistants, LPN, RN)
- Performs other tests, procedures and treatments as directed. Documents in LMR per practice protocols
- Performs designated tasks to track test results, via LMR, and communicate results to patients
- Provides input to RN and Administrative Coordinator regarding the practice clinical needs
- Participates in practice and other committees for the formulation of practice policies and procedures
- Participates in monthly staff meetings
- Professional Development: maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills
- Current licensure as licensed practical nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- 1+ years of previous LPN/Nursing experience
- Excellent organizational and customer service skills
- Associate’s Degree or similar higher education
